Excess

In a world that constantly pushes us towards more, there is a quiet beauty in taking only what we need. Rather than restraint, focusing on our desires, our values, and our direction provides an intimate understanding of ourselves in a way nothing else can. Chasing excess in all forms is often seen as the default expectation for finding one's purpose—through more success, more possessions, and more status—mistaking abundance for happiness. When in reality, removing excess in all forms and choosing to live with intention rather than the pursuit of more is what leaves room for a much more fulfilling life.

This same principle can be applied to software development as well, where the default often leans towards chasing more features, more animations, more dependencies. Technical abundance cannot be mistaked for user satisfaction. By designing for simplicity, building intentionally, and refining for accessibility, we are able to effectively replace noise with purpose when done right.

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.— Antoine de Saint-Exupery
